    The OpenLV Project is trialling an open software platform in electricity substations that can monitor substation performance and electricity demand. This will host applications provided by a diverse set of developers, such as community groups, businesses and universities, providing a variety of services to network operators, communities and the wider industry.     Regen has been working closely with Western Power Distribution (WPD) to develop detailed scenarios to understand the future of distributed generation, demand and storage in their licence areas. Off the back of this work WPD commissioned Regen to develop an approach to model the growth and operation of storage assets. Read more

    Ofgem have made a decision that three solar farms operated by developer Anesco and accredited under the Renewables Obligation (RO) scheme, will be able to claim RO Certificates (ROCs) for all renewable electricity generated, even if it is used to charge an energy storage system. Read more

  • UKPN offer a window on the future of localised flexibility services, 16 August 2017

    UK Power Networks has released more information about how and where they intend to tender for flexibility services. The expression of interest is for delivery of flexible capacity at 10 substations where there are problems delivering peak capacity – which could include energy storage, Demand Side Response (DSR), and other flexible generation.   • Energy Storage Growth Scenarios and Operating Modes: A Consultation, 15 May 2017

    Regen are working with WPD to develop an approach to model the future growth and operation of storage assets to better understand how these assets are likely to be used, and their ‘mode of operation’. WPD wishes to consult with industry to establish whether the analysis and definitions we have arrived at are appropriate and reflect how the sector currently views the likely deployment and operating behaviour of storage.
