Peter Capener

Executive Director, Bath & West Community Energy and member of the FPSA project delivery board

Peter is a member of the project delivery board for the Energy Systems Catapult/IET, Future Power Systems Architecture project, that is looking at how Britain’s electricity system needs to transform to meet the needs of future users and decarbonisation. 

Peter has worked in sustainable and community energy for 30 years. He is co-founder and Executive Director of Bath & West Community Energy, a community enterprise that has raised nearly £12 million through local share and bond offers and built over 12MW of community solar PV and one small hydro scheme.

Peter is a non executive director of Community Energy England and Mongoose Energy, a trustee of the Centre for Sustainable Energy and Power to Change and chair of BEIS’s ministerial community energy contact group. He was awarded an MBE in the 2015 New Year Honours List for services to sustainable energy and has an MSc in Energy Resource Management.
