To achieve the UK’s carbon emission reduction commitments, the power system in this country is moving away from fossil fuel dependency to a scenario where energy is generated via low carbon technologies.
A more decentralised energy system will require a greater level of flexibility and ‘smarter’ working on the network. One of the key elements to deliver this flexibility is expected to be the widespread deployment of storage assets which will enable the management of energy based on supply and demand rather than purely supply.
This article, written by Regen director Johnny Gowdy, and published by Energy World, explores the feasibility of the storage industry in overcoming the challenges and helping provide system flexibility for our ever-evolving energy network.
