Green PEA, the energy certification scheme aimed at reducing carbon emissions for local businesses and supported by the Borough of Poole and Christchurch & East Dorset Councils, has presented certificates to two major employers in the area, for their continued involvement and support in the scheme.

The Hadland Care Group is only the second member of the Green PEA scheme to achieve the penultimate Level 4 status. Since joining the scheme, and through the help of Green PEA, they have successfully reduced their energy consumption with an average saving of 19.44 per cent in electricity and 23.87 per cent in gas. Work done to date includes:

  • Instillation of magnetic conditioners to their boilers
  • Implementation of solar PV to their estate
  • Presenting a green conference to all staff members to encourage energy efficiency.

The Hadland Care Group is now looking to make further changes to enhance their energy savings and move closer towards possibly becoming the scheme’s first Level 5 member.

A presentation has also been made at Borough of Poole’s Civic Centre to Tony Moss from Bournemouth and Poole College, who received their Supporting Member’s certificate. Since the scheme’s inception in 2013, Bournemouth and Poole College has offered proactive support including hosting an event at their state of the art STEM Centre and the Green PEA team were pleased to recognise their assistance to date.

Paul Cooling, chair of the Green PEA CIC, was delighted to be able to present the recent certificates:

Hadland Care Group and the College are two fantastic examples of how organisations can benefit from belonging to Green PEA whilst reaping the rewards for themselves. Hadland have made significant gains in energy consumption and have really embraced the green Agenda across their entire organisation. We are also particularly pleased the College has become such a strong supporter of Green PEA as they have such a strong influence on the future with young students and if we can get the message of the importance of reducing our carbon footprint across to them this can only be positive for the future.”
