  • Celebrating innovation: Green Energy Awards shortlist, 22 September

    The 14th annual awards ceremony will honour the innovation, dedication and creative ingenuity enabling the transformation to clean, smart and flexible energy. The shortlisted nominees will now go through to the final stage of judging, where an expert panel of judges will select this year’s winners.   • Capacity Market 'Improving the Framework', 15 September 2017

    Our response to the BEIS 'Improving the Framework' consultation raised some issues about their approach to de-rating storage on the basis of duration. We argued for addressing the issue through a technology-neutral penalty. We also had concerns that the late-in-the-day changes like those proposed will inevitably impact investor confidence in delivering the government’s long-term energy objectives. Read more

  • Ofgem announcement regarding storage and the Renewables Obligation, 14 September 2017

    Ofgem have indicated that generators accredited under the Renewables Obligation (RO) scheme, will be able to claim RO Certificates (ROCs) for all renewable electricity generated, even if it is used to charge an energy storage system. Ofgem has recognised the significant role storage is set to play in the ‘smart and flexible’ energy system that they outlined with BEIS, in their joint strategy document launched earlier this year.
