More on this theme

Regen SW began managing the South West Bioenergy Capital Grants Scheme in 2008, and since then the capacity of renewable heat from biomass boilers in the south west has more than tripled from just 16 MW to 56 MW in 2011. Some of the programme’s highlights are:

  • it’s supported 41 per cent of the south west’s biomass installations
  • it’s given biomass ‘masterclasses’ to educate those interested in investing in the technology
  • it’s supported four further sites (Treliske hospital, Castle Drogo, and two schools) to commission their own biomass boilers
  • it has funded the South West Woodshed – the south west’s definite site for woodfuel information, training and advice.
