Nominations Open for the SW Green Energy Awards
8 June 2012
Nominations open on 10th June for the SW Green Energy Awards. The highly-sought-after awards, which this year mark Regen’s 10th anniversary, celebrate the increasing importance of renewable energy in the south west.
Merlin Hyman, Regen SW chief executive, said: “Last year we had over 100 high-quality entries, which showed that the south west is home to some of the UK’s most ground-breaking sustainable-energy projects, initiatives and individuals. To mark Regen’s 10th anniversary we’re looking for inspiring people, projects and companies that are exemplars in their field.”
Last year’s winners included leading community group Wadebridge Renewable Energy Network, Dairy Crest for their replacement of oil with a biofuel boiler at their Davidstow site and Sam Whatmore, founder of Forest Fuels.
Ellen Rodger from Sungift Solar said: “Winning Installer of the Year has been really beneficial for us. It has helped to give our customers confidence that we are a company they can trust to offer high-quality installations and a dedicated, personal customer service. At SunGift Solar we really do strive to offer the very best service possible and it is really nice to be recognised for this.”
Regen SW is looking for entries in the following categories: Best Business Innovation, Installer or Supplier of the Year, Best Community Initiative, Best Renewable Energy Scheme, Most Proactive Local Authority, South West Sustainable Energy Champion, and Sustainable Energy Photo of the Year.
The first stage is a short 150 word nomination. The entries are then shortlisted and the chosen few invited to provide more detailed answers to a high profile judging panel. The winners and runners up will then be invited to collect their accolades at a glittering awards ceremony in Bath on 20 November.

“As well as being personally very pleased to have received an award, I think the SW Green Energy Awards are valuable to the region and the sector in having something to aspire to, by recognising individuals and organisations as exemplars in the industry.”
Sam Whatmore (2011 Winner: South West Sustainable Energy Champion)
Managing Director, Forest Fuels
“It was a huge honour to have won the award: it made a massive difference not only to our public perception but was even more valuable to our staff pride and morale...I would strongly encourage people across the sector to participate in 2012!”
