Carbon Trust study reveals that Cornwall’s Atlantic coast is a prime location for wave energy
A new report published by the Carbon Trust shows that the Cornish coast and west coast of Scotland are the top two UK coastal areas for generating energy from wave power.
The report can be viewed here.
This report only strengthens the work currently taking place at Wave Hub, situated off the Cornwall coast.
The wave hub provides the infrastructure needed to accelerate and greatly reduce the cost of wave energy technology development. The progression of this technology is vital to unlocking the fantastic natural resource that the report shows is so close to the wave hub, reinforcing its importance in the south west.
Jonny Gowdy, programme director at Regen SW said ‘we have been working hard in the south west to encourage and nurture the development of wave energy technology. This report adds further impetus to our campaign, showing once again that the coast of Cornwall offers one of the best natural resources in the country to support a growing industry that will provide many local jobs and energy security for the region’.
