Internships
Henry Bardolf-Smith

Henry has been working for Regen SW as an intern since April 2009. He has a degree in BSc Engineering with honours from Bristol UWE. He has successfully completed the ‘Shell Step' graduate program run by Exeter University, and is now currently undertaking the Graduate Business Partnership program.
While working for Regen SW, Henry has been involved in a broad range of programmes, including running the first ‘Sustainable Energy Photo of the Year' competition, which was successfully included in the 2009 South West Green Energy Awards. He has also carried out quantitative and qualitative market research for the South West Bioheat Programme, undertaken webmaster duties for the corporate website, and assisted in the running of events. These projects developed a wide range of his key skills, including project management, personal time keeping, marketing communications, and design.
This varied role has not only improved Henry's knowledge of the sustainable energy industry, but also given him ‘hands on' experience of all aspects of a project, from researching and writing the initial proposals to carrying out and analysing the final itself.
Josie Ashe

Josie joined Regen SW in December 2009 on the graduate Business Partnership Program run by the University of Exeter.
Josie is responsible for producing the 2010 Survey of Renewable Electricity and Heat in South West England, which involves collecting and collating information on projects installed between January 2009 and January 2010. In addition to highlighting the region's renewable energy generation, the survey also presents examples of key south west renewables' initiatives and the related business opportunities within the region.
Josie's role within Regen SW requires skills including communication, survey design and data collection, data analysis, time management, and the co-ordination of the survey design and production.
Josie has a background in environmental consultancy, working on risk assessment for contaminated land. She holds a first class honours degree in Environmental Earth Science and an MSc in Environmental Monitoring and Analysis. She wishes to build on her knowledge related to building design and energy use, and to the efficient and sustainable use of natural resources. Josie is particularly keen to become involved in research contributing to legislation, policy, and the development of technical advice.
Susannah Bedford

Susannah completed her degree in BSc Rural Environmental Sciences, graduating from The University of Reading with first class honours in 2008. Whilst carrying out a part time position as a teaching assistant she has been working as an intern at Regen SW for one day a week since May. Susannah is highly dedicated to working within the environmental sector and is extremely appreciative of the opportunity provided by Regen SW to further develop her research and communication skills whilst working alongside Regen SW's sustainable energy analyst.
Whilst working at Regen SW, Susannah has been responsible for carrying out the research behind a project focusing on increasing the installation rate of renewable energy within the tourism sector of the south west. This has been a great opportunity for Susannah, giving her the chance to further develop her partnership-working skills, acting as a key contact throughout the project. She has also been responsible for compiling a monthly policy update to be included within Regen SW's monthly e-bulletin, which has required good written communication skills. In addition to this, Susannah has recently started a new project, gathering information to create a toolkit for communities hoping to develop a community wind project. This variety in tasks has required Susannah to manage her time successfully, ensuring that each job is completed on time and to a high quality.
